GENERAL PROFILE OF HUMAN DEVELOPMENT PROMOTION GROUP (HDPG)


  1. Human Development Promotion Group (HDPG) is a non-governmental voluntary organization of committed individuals striving for the development of human beings at all levels. HDPG registered (Reg. No, 2880) on May 8, 2000 under the Pakistan Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860. It is working for the social, economic and political development of the marginalized sections of the society with a basic philosophy, an orientation and tools that would enable them to be on their own .

    a) VISION
    Peace, Justice and Development.

    b) MISSION STATEMENT

    To create an ideal society based on full respect for human rights in which all men and women especially those living in poverty may exercise their rights and utilize their resources for sustainable human development.

    c) STRUCTURE

    Structure of the HDPG comprises of a General Body, seven members Governing Body, also called BOD, and an Executive Committee. General Body encompasses both permanent and temporary volunteer members. The total numbers of permanent members of GB is not fixed. After every three years, these permanent members take part in the election of choosing members of the Governing Body/Board of Directors.

    Board of Directors is the ruling body of the organization. The BOD is responsible to frame policy guidelines for the organization, to select the executive committee and to monitor organization's activities.

    The executive committee is the management committee of the organization which runs day-to-day affairs of the organization. The executive committee consists of directors, administrative and Finance officers. Besides, a number of committed volunteers and Community Based Organizations are actively supporting HDPG on full and part time basis.

    d) OBJECTIVES OF HDPG

     •  To promote full respect for human rights and improve the socio-economic conditions of disadvantaged communities without jeopardizing their traditional and cultural values.

    •  To promote democracy, human dignity, social justice and solidarity, ensure tolerance, non-violence, pluralism and non-discrimination with respect for diversity both within and among the societies.

    •  To suggest immediate measures for institution building that enhances human survival, social justice and human resource development.

    •  To provide basic education to all without any discrimination of gender and to find out ways and means to increase literacy in the backward areas of the country

    •  To reduce the danger of small arms and weapons of mass destruction through mass awareness, lobbying and advocacy campaigns.

    •  To physically, socially and psychologically rehabilitate and re-integrate the innocent landmines child victims.

    •  To ensure the highest attainable standards of physical and mental health and the access to all primary health care.

    •  To help the innocent victims of natural calamities such as earthquake, cyclone, drought, famine, floods, epidemic diseases and the victims of war.

    •  To eradicate poverty and child labour through decisive national and international cooperation, as an ethical, social and economic imperative of human kind.
